What's to Eat?? Taco Seasoning

How to make your own Taco Seasoning Mix

Why make your own taco seasoning mix you may ask? I personally think adding a few more minutes of your time to create something of your own, especially since you can see what goes into it, always means more and is always that much better.  My fail proof black beans recipe  and also black bean burger recipe requires for a taco seasoning mixed into the beans.  Taco seasoning is a blend of different seasonings certain to turn ordinary food into a fiesta of flavor.  Perfect for anything Mexican or even for a nice flavorful taste!

What you will need::
  • 1 and 3/4 cups, 2 tablespoons of chili powder
  • 2 tablespoons, 1 and 1/2 teaspoons of garlic powder
  • 2 tablespoons, 1 and 1/2 teaspoons of onion powder
  • 2 tablespoons, 1 and 1/2 teaspoons of crushed red pepper flakes
  • 2 tablespoons, 1 and 1/2 teaspoons dried oregano
  • 1/4 cup, 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 3/4 cup, 3 tablespoons ground cumin
  • 1/2 cup, 2 tablespoons sea salt(or regular salt)
  • 1/2 cup, 2 tablespoons black pepper
Get a large bowl and mix these ingredients really well.
It really is as simple as that.  This will make for a large mix of taco seasoning and can be stored for months in our pantry until needed!
Try it out with the recipes linked above! How do you like it over store bought seasoning?
Check back tomorrow for some fall favorites!

Mani Monday! Pinks and Whites

Vintage Mani

Happy happy Monday everyone! Over in Maryland, the weather feels absolutely perfect! Might grab a book and head over to a park to enjoy this weather outside and take a break and just relax  on this gorgeous Monday afternoon! Remember, life's what you make it and even thought it took alot out of us to get up on a Monday morning, you can always turn it around into a fabulous day :)
Today's mani is inspired by cintage feels, flirty pinks, and soft hues.  It is a pretty simple mani DIY as you can see it by following the steps below.

Have a great day! Check back later this week for a recipe!

OOTD:: Trip to the Winery!

Virginia Winery Hopping!

This past weekend I went up to Virginia for a full day of wine tasting; it is my second time ever going and I forgot how much fun it can be! It is the perfect girls day out or getting together with friends and just relaxing but also expanding your palette and just getting to try samples of different wines! I definitely recommend it to everyone and for everyone to do it at least 1-2 times a year!

  I started off this cute little place up high which had a beautiful view overlooking the whole Bluemont city!  My two favorites had to be their 2012 Raspberry Wine and also their signature Bordeaux-style 2012 Raven Rocks Red.
 Cheers from Twin Oaks!

The second place has a gorgeous background view! This was a more popular and bigger winery. My favorite was probably  the 2011 Jolie Blond.  Here we also decided to have a picnic and enjoy the view and weather. As much as I liked the area, the wines for me weren't the best. I wouldn't recommend this one too much.
 More of my friends decided to join this time, cheers from Breaux!

This was the final stop for the day and may I add, the perfect ending! It was my most favorite of the three! It even came with chocolate truffle pairings which were mouth-watering goodness! I pretty much liked all the wines here.  The host we had was hilarious and friendly, and we even ended up buying a few wines from here and staying here for a while, taking the gorgeous weather and day in.
 Cheers from North Gate!

 Now onto the outfit of the day! That day was breezy but gorgeous weather.  It was actually the first day of Fall! I decided to still embrace the summer clothes and mix in some bright colors while I still can.  A nice flowy dress with a statement necklace is the route I chose.  Since there was a lot of walking and most of it was on grass, I opted to fun flat sandals.  Paired it with a brown clutch to match shoes and blend in with my dress to complete the look!

Thanks for checking out my experience at the different wineries and check back sometime this week or next for a new recipe!

Mani Monday:: First Day of Fall!

Fall Leaves

Happy, happy Monday everyone! Yesterday marked the first day of my absolute favorite season, Fall! And so in honor of it, I decided to have my nails Fall festive!
 Fall is just full of oranges, yellows, rusts, cognacs, browns, olives, and still all while the sun shining down on us.  So  I decided to do an ombre-esqe feel of those colors.

The gold glitters adds for a fun look and looks amazing when the suns glistening down.

Thanks for checking Dash of Style, with a Sweet Smile out today!
Check back later this week for my winery day OOTD post!
