Mani Monday:: Springtime Florals

Happy Monday everyone! Beautiful, beautiful day! How could you not be happy and smiling at everyone?!
Well today's Mani Monday is a fun, flirty, girly, and festive one, filled with little roses and pinks! Learn how to make this floral design yourself by following the steps below!
First start off by painting your base colors.
Then with the lightest shade, like a light pink, make random polka dots. They do NOT need to be perfect!
Then take a toothpick or thin brush and with your darker shade, make random lines around the dots, like shown before.
Lastly, get a green polis and add random lines/dots around your roses to create the leaves!

And the final step!

Check back later this weekend for a fun outfit of the day!

What's to Eat?? Caprese Bites

Remember my other post(here) about how I was going to make juicy grape tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, fresh and awesome smelling basil, drizzled with balsamic, two ways? The first way was a pasta route, heartier, fuller, but this way is a caprese bite.  Perfect for when guests come over  or just when you want a quick and refreshing snack! The best part is that it is done in THREE, yes, 3 easy steps! And only has 5 ingredients! (HINT HINT Boys, sure way to impress your date without having to do that much work!)
What you will need::
  • Grape tomatoes, 1/2 cup cut in half or quartered
  • 1/2-1/3 cup of basil, cut in half or thirds
  • 1/2-1 cup mozzarella balls
  • Balsamic glaze to drizzle
  • Toothpicks for decor and fun!

Start off by cutting your washing your basil and grape tomatoes and then cut your tomatoes.

Drizzle on some balsamic glaze over your mozzarella to your desired liking.

And now you can finish it off however you like! I like to start off first with the mozzarella, than adding a basil piece, and finishing it off with the grape tomato, with the cut side facing down(putting it on the toothpick last) so it stabilizes your bite.

Is your mouth salivating right now? I'm about to devour all of this myself! Sorry guests!
Check back Monday for a floral and fun Mani Monday.
Enjoy the rest of your beautiful weekend!

Mani Monday:: Minnie Mouse Inspired

Happy Monday!! Hope you guys had a fun-filled and great weekend! This week's Mani Monday is a fun, kid-inspired one! Perfect for the spring weather and just having fun!
 Brings me back to my younger days but at the same time, still has a sense of classy fashion in the sense that there is just something about black and white polka dots and the color red that just always look so timeless and great together! But anyways, this design does remind me of the good 'ol little cutie, Minnie Mouse :) So fun!

Check back later this week for one of my new favorite recipes!

OOTD:: Sunday Afternoons at the Wineries

Now the Spring weather is here! (well, slowly but surely) we want to take advantage of these beautiful days by spending all our time outside! What other way to spend your Sunday than a trip over to a winery, or three!

Remember my last post about "Winery Hopping" (to check it out click here!) My friends and I like to head over to Virginia and make a fun-filled day over it, checking out different wineries each time and bringing along food and making a picnic as well! Well this time, we chose Casanel Vineyards, Bogati Bodega and Vineyards, and finished off with Village Winery. I love winery hopping because not only do you get to explore more wines and more vineyards, you can get with your friends, do a potluck style, and be snacking on food all day, soaking in the sun, playing frisbee or cards, laying on the grass, and taking advantage of the full day!
With a quick overview of each place, we started off with Casanel first. Loved it! Love the ambiance, the wines, and how they told the history of how they started and how it is a family-owned business.  After our wine, we ate our first meal here, soaking in the spring sun. After an hour or two of munching and talking, we finally left and headed over to Bogati Bodega.  This place was my second favorite, but not somewhere I would probably go again. They staff and interior was nice, I just wasn't feeling the wines here.  BUT the nice part was, you could bring in some chocolate and have a chocolate/wine tasting, um, HELLO! Right after our tasting, we headed over to our final destination over at this cute little cabin called Village Winery.  This place was very unique in that they had box wines, yes, you read right, box wines! None of that Franzia college wine, actual wine made and assembled into a box! What a neat concept! Sadly, the wine here and I didn't match flavors.  The man behind it all was extremely sweet, and we actually spent most of our time here outside relaxing and eating again, but wine wise, not my cup of tea.

Onto the outfit of the day! It was slightly chilly in the morning and evening, the blankets helped.  But the afternoon was perfect and so warm! I opted for some fun, printed shorts, a white blouse, paired with sandals for all the walking and a cardigan in case I was chilly (remember, layering is key!) Check out my day, yourself!

picnic time!

Check back tomorrow for Mani Monday!

OOTD:: Transitioning into Spring in DC

I got too excited way too quick.  Man, these April showers don't mess around do they!
Today's post is about these showers and how it affects the weather and makes it go from hot sunny days, to cooler days at other times. Also, DC weather is so iffy, just two weeks ago, it was snowing! I know, your jaw is dropping isn't it?! Well last weekend, my sister came up from sweet 'ol Georgia to come visit me for the weekend (isn't she the cutest and sweetest?! :D ) and so I had to take her to an obligatory visit to see our main man Abe and visit the White House.
Spring comes by so quick.  One second its freezing, and a few days later it'll be the most perfect weather, then BAM! Hello heat wave.  I've learned that the trick is to layer up in this transitional period.  You never know when the rain would come and cool the weather down, or when the sun will be kissing your body more than you'll like.
I chose to wear  a long sleeve dress, paired with a faux fur vest to keep me warm but not too warm.  It was actually the perfect outfit! It became a lot more windy than we anticipated, but only in the mid 50s range, so not enough to whip out the heavy jackets. I paired it with some cute loafers(yes, the ones I actually put in my Christmas Friday Favorites post a few months ago, my brother surprised me with them! Yall, I seriously have the sweeetest family!) but they were great because they were so comfy, looked perfect and perfect for all the walking we had to do.
Take a look for yourself on our day in DC!

Oh you know, had to get a quick kiss with Abe!

Close up of the belt and necklace.
(Notice the windy hair! Which turned out super cute for the picture, haha)

Love her!

The best view!

HAD to represent and throw up my letters, Go Kappa Delta! Love Yall, AOT!

When it gets a bit warmer, just take off your vest!

 Spring fashion is all about layers since the weather is still catching up.  So keep that and this post in mind when your getting ready next!
Check back and Have a great rest of the week!
